I still remember doing this, totally unique, breakfast bar mural. The client let me loose with the elephant motif, she just wanted me to do “something fabulous !”

I envisioned the caves in france decorated by the primitive artists. I thought that a revisitation of that was in order. I tried to recreate the granite wall feel, as well as adding the ancient feel of fossilization by embossing the chain of elephants, and the larger elephant heads. A black electrical outlet cover and plate has since replaced the white one. It blends in much better.

Detail of the Fossilized feel to these elephants. Just about every painting technique was employed on this mural. The comment was made to me by the client “ I can tell your having fun”. She was right, all painters love slinging it when they have the chance.

Mimicking the chalk-like appearance of the woolly mammoths, was achieved with the use of  an airbrush. Various shading and glazing techniques finished off the 2d- reliefs of the stencils.
